It is important to read our Warranty, Refunds and Returns Policy before you purchase any product.

Acceptance of the terms and conditions of this website at checkout deems you have accepted the policy below.

This Policy applies to all products bought from SA Weather Shop.

 

This Policy forms part of the SA Weather Shop Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy and so words defined in the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy have the same meaning in this Policy, unless the context indicates otherwise.

 

Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit your statutory rights in any way.

 

We reserve the right to update or amend this policy at any time without any prior notice to you.

 

Please always ensure you are aware of our latest terms & conditions, returns & refunds policies or any other terms presented on this web site.

1. Faulty Product

If your product arrives faulty you must notify us within 24 hours.

It is unlikely as we test each product before shipping.

 

2. Cancelling an order

Once you place an order, confirm the order and complete payment the order is considered to be a binding commitment from you. If you truly made a mistake you must notify us immediately by email, phone or whatsapp.


If we approve your cancellation prior to shipping, there will be a 5.5% > 7.5% refund charge deducted from your purchase price as we incur admin, banking and transaction refund fees.

 

If your order required us to import the item especially for you, there will be a 35% refund charge should we decide to approve your refund at all. Most special imports are however not refundable.

 

2(b). Returning a Product

 

Under the Consumer Protection Act you have 7 days to return a product. The product must be 100% unused and in 100% original condition just as it was sent to you. You will be responsible for the return shipping fees and the product box must be protected by bubble wrap to avoid any damage to the product container. There will be a 7% admin/restocking charge deducted from your refund. The 7-day period starts from the moment you take delivery of the package. Any missing pieces from your return will affect your refund or may lead to us rejecting it entirely should we discover the item has been used or parts are missing from the package.

 

3. Not what you ordered or product not as advertised.

Our product descriptions and product photos are very clear and very descriptive.

Unfortunately we will not refund you if you changed your mind, you can however speak to us regarding an upgrade or swop out for an alternative product.

If we really did send you the wrong product notify us immediately.

 

4. Products damaged on delivery

Unfortunately damages do sometimes occur with items in transit it happens very seldom with us but does happen from time to time.

We take great care to bubble wrap and protect each product we ship to ensure your product arrives in perfect condition.

 

4.1 Visible damage to outside of package

If you notice any visible damage to the package on arrival with the courier you may refuse the delivery.

 

4.2 Checking your product on arrival

You MUST open your package within 24 hours of receipt from the courier and notify us within the first 24 hours of any damages.

 

It is very important to notify us on contact@weathershop.co.za if your package has arrived damaged.

 

In your email we need you to include photographs of the damaged packaging or and product so that we may take the matter up with the courier company and be able to start processing the collection of the damaged product from you and sending you a replacement ASAP.

We will arrange to collect the product from you at no charge to you. Once we have inspected the product and validated your return, we will replace the product as soon as possible.

5. Defective Products

We do our best to ensure that the products we deliver to you are of a high quality and without defects. All weather stations are fully tested before they ship to you. 

 

A defect can however occur in the manufacture of a product if your unit arrives faulty you must notify us within 24 hours so we can either collect it from you to test or assist you with the correct installation.

 

If the unit truly is faulty upon arrival it will be replaced immediately.

Software bugs in a manufacturer’s app, firmware update or dashboard do not qualify as a defect, any such issues must be raised with appropriate support channels.

 

6. Standard Warranty on Products

The standard product warranty is 1 year unless otherwise indicated (ie. unboxed deals). Davis and Kestrel products carry different warranties, kindly enquire for details.

 

If you have received a product which turns out to be defective please notify us within 24 hours after you become aware of the defect.

 

The repairs or replacement shipping costs will then be handled by us.

 

The cost of returning the product to us with a courier for an RMA warranty claim beyond 90 days of ownership is for your own account. 

 

Please use PUDO (Door to Door) by Courier Guy to return the product to us in its original packaging (or the faulty part which we will advise you about before your return).

 

Once we receive your return and have inspected it as per point 7 below we will then proceed with your warranty claim assessment.

 

 

6.2 Warranty claims

 

Replacement products are subject to stock availability of the replacement product. In some cases there may be a 14-20 delay until your replacement unit arrives. The Warranty Term will not be extended by the repair or replacement of a Product.

 

If we establish a fault with the product caused by any of the warranty exclusions the product will subject to a repair or replacement cost and may also void your warranty.

 

6.3 Add-Ons Warranty

 

If you bought a weather station that allows adding on additional parts and sensors, NOTE that these are considered as additions / modifications and are NOT covered under the original warranty of the unit you purchased.

 

This means that if you can not get additional parts, considered as modifications, to work with your original product it does not entitle you to any refund on the product you originally purchased from us. These add-on products have their own individual warranty.

 

If your product manual states that add-on parts or sensors can be added to the unit we can not guarantee availability of said parts. Sometimes manufacturers discontinue a product or add-on and that is entirely beyond our control and should said add-on parts never become available it will not entitle you to a refund of your original product. (see also discontinued products – 9)

 

6.4 Warranty Exclusions

The following do not result from a manufacturing defect and are not covered under this Limited Warranty:

The warranty will no longer be valid, and SA Weather Shop will not be responsible for damage or injury of any kind resulting from:

 

  • Electricity fluctuations and surges, lightning strikes, faults in the building wiring, faulty installations, and improper use of controls
  • Failure to use the product in accordance with the operating instructions and or general misuse and or abuse
  • Damage caused by a superior force (vis major) or if the product has been infested with insects or pests or damaged by wild animals ie. monkeys or birds etc.
  • If the product is physically damaged after you have unboxed it
  • If water or liquid caused the damage to the product
  • If the warranty seal is tampered with
  • Any repair or tampering by an unauthorised person or attempt to repair or tamper with the equipment, or use of parts not supplied by authorised agents, or alterations or modification to the equipment shall render the warranty null and void.
  • Damage due to improper use, abuse, introduction of foreign objects, unauthorized modifications or alterations.
  • Damage due to lack of reasonable and recommended maintenance, including corrosion.
  • Damage resulting from impact significantly exceeding stated impact standard, crushing or mechanical harm.
  • Damage due to exposure to toxic or corrosive gases, including for example chlorine, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, etc.
  • Any unauthorized repairs and/or parts and/or damage caused by modifications, alterations or attempted repairs by someone other than an authorized repair agent.
  • Normal wear and tear and/or any parts or items normally designed to be periodically replaced during the life of the Product, including but not limited to disposable batteries.
  • Cleaning, periodic checkups or preventative maintenance.
  • Accuracy issues resolvable by recalibration.
  • Wireless signal issues due to interference, metal obstructions and/or excessive distance.
  • Damage due to extreme weather events such as lightning strikes, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes or floods.
  • Damage caused by animals or insects.
  • Loss of data or software.
  • Incidental, consequential or secondary damages.
  • Costs of installation, removal, setup, or diagnostic activities.
  • Any Product with illegal, altered, defaced or removed serial numbers.
  • Any loss of use during the period that the Product is at an authorized service center or awaiting parts.
  • Software bugs in a manufacturer’s smartphone app or web dashboard.
  • Software bugs introduced by a manufacturer’s firmware update.

 

7. Return and Refund Charges

If you return a defective product to us, but you fail to return all of the accessories and parts (including the box and all inside packaging) that were sold with that product in the condition they were sent to you, we reserve the right to

 

  • assess the condition of the product and its packaging before honouring any warranty or repair claim.
  • inspect and test the unit (including its packaging) to validate its condition.
  • determine any charges / deductions based on the condition of the product and the condition it was returned in.
  • refuse your return entirely and return your product back to you.

 

Any charges or deductions based on the above will be determined during our inspection of the product returned. We will then notify you of the amount that will be refunded.

 

In the case of a refund you will be responsible for the cost of the return shipping. Any banking / credit card gateway fees incurred by us including the original shipping & packaging charge will be deducted from the refunded amount. On average this is often about 7.5 to 12% of the original price paid.

 

 

8. How to return your products to us

Your product must be re-packaged the way it was received, in its original box (undamaged) and must include all interior packaging, product manuals etc, the way you received it from us.

 

Your product must be bubble wrapped to protect its box from getting damaged during transit.

 

If you have had ownership of the product for more than 60 days you need to book the return yourself using Courier Guy If your warranty claim is honoured you will be refunded this return fee.

 

If your return or warranty claim requires a product repair due to any of the warranty exclusions (6.1) you will be quoted for the repair charges, you will not be refunded your return shipping cost and you will also be liable for the return shipping cost after repairs.

 

If we have booked the collection for return there will be no charge for this collection. If however your product does not meet requirements specified in point 7 above you will be charged for the collection and any product damages.

 

 

 

9. Discontinued Products & Product Pricing

 

Our product pricing changes frequently based on the Rand/Dollar exchange rate.

 

We reserve the right to change our prices or discontinue a product at any point in time without any prior notice to you.

 

If you see the product you purchased now selling for less, this does not entitle you to any refund.

 

If you have bought a product that has the ability to add on additional sensors but those sensors become unavailable or even discontinued by the manufacturer it does not entitle you to a refund on the original product you purchased. 

 

If we decide to discontinue a product, we reserve the right to sell any left over products in stock at a greatly reduced price than what you paid for it. This does not entitle you to any refund.

 

 

 

10. Product Upgrades or Swop-Outs

Your product is sold to you exactly as advertised and our product descriptions and photos are very detailed about what you are buying.

 

If for example you purchased a 5-in-1 weather station but now decide you actually wanted the 7-in-1 model you may contact us within 7 days to discuss an upgrade.

Do not open or use the product in such a case.

 

If we agree to allow you an upgrade it will be subject to all other terms and conditions mentioned above.

 

If your product is returned in perfect condition (see point 7 above) we will then contact you to discuss the difference you need to pay in on the the new product.

 

If your product has not been returned in its original condition (as per point 7 above) we will establish its now current value to us before we give you a price on the upgrade.

 

 

 

11. Order Cancellations

If your order can not be fulfilled for some reason ie. No available stock or product discontinued by manufacturer without notice we reserve the right to cancel your order and give you a full refund.

 

While we take great care for this to never occur it very occasionally may happen.

 

12. Right to Refusal of Service by SA Weather Shop

Customers who display any form of abuse towards our staff may have their order cancelled immediately and will be fully refunded once the product is returned to us 100% undamaged, with no missing parts or manuals of any sort, ie. in the same pristine condition we sent it to you. The return shipping fee will be at your cost.

 

We run an ethical online store and treat all our customers with respect, decency and professionalism and will not tolerate any abusive language or behaviour whatsoever.

 

 

12. RMA Terms & Conditions

Should a warranty sticker not be present on an item, the warranty is immediately null and void.

 

SA Weather Shop reserves the right to refuse a refund if the item is damaged from misuse, items are missing, or if the product is altered in any way. 

 

SA Weather Shop or its affiliates are not responsible for damage or loss of any kind that may occur as a result of using or misusing any product purchased from us. SA Weather Shop are also not responsible for any loss of production or downtime caused to you or your operations during a warranty claim process during which you will have no product until the warranty claim / swop out process has been completed.

 

Warranty Terms will not be extended by the repair or replacement of a Product.

 

Products sent to us for and RMA / Warranty assessment or for repairs that the customer does not re-collect from us via courier within 90 days will be sold to defray costs.

 

13. Your Responsibilities

You must properly maintain, inspect, store, care for, clean, and/or use your Product according to the supplied instructions. In the event Your Product becomes damaged, you must take the necessary steps to protect the Product against any further damage.

 

If we determine that Product loss or damage has occurred as a direct result of not performing any of the foregoing and required maintenance of your product, your claim may be denied and you warranty voided.

 

If you look after your weather station as per maintenance instructions and recommendations included with all products, your weather station will in turn look after you.

 

Avoid updating your device firmware if everything is already working properly. Seldom if ever do you need to update firmware unless the new firmware adds a new feature you require. 

14. Product Repairs

We are able to carry out repairs on most brands on weather stations. You will need to ship the product to us, we will inspect the problem and give you a quotation for the repair.

 

If you accept the quotation we will proceed with the repairs. Once completed we can ship it back to you and charge you accordingly for the shipping or you can send your own courier to collect from us.

 

There is a maximum warranty of workmanship of 90 days.
